Our Approach
While most people have reasonably good communication skills, Influencing Options teaches the influencing skills necessary to deal with more important issues that require high levels of accountability. Influencing is a requesting process.
Influencing Options are taught as options and not as the only way. Through presentation and step-by-step practice we teach people options that they may choose to add to their existing tool kit. Every option has a price (time, energy and risk) and a possible outcome or consequence. Being effective at influencing, as in life, is a matter of being clear about the desired outcome, the price you are willing to pay and then having the skills to fit the process. People in our workshops learn not only the critical skills to be able to influence, but also the thought process to decide which approach to take and whether it is worth it or not.
We do not use case studies or artificial role-plays in the workshop. Participants learn the skills by applying them to real, current situations that they are facing.
We believe that training and skill development is a means to an end — one of many possible options to solve a problem or to meet an objective. Thus, we prefer to facilitate clients identifying their goal(s) for training so that we may then tailor workshops to provide the appropriate skills to meet those goals.
